    Picante de la Casa

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe
    Cocktail in a rocks glass

Otherwise known as the Soho House Tonic, the Picante de la Casa is a riff on the popular Tommy’s Margarita, with the addition of spicy chilli and herbacous coriander.

I’ll start by saying this drink is up there with one of my favourite cocktails. I personally love a margarita, particularly a spicy one, and the Picante de la Casa hits all the right notes. A deliciously perfect balance of sour, sweet and spicy, with notes of coriander makes for the ideal summer drink in my humble opinion.

This drink was created by Soho House LA bar manager, Chris Odeja. The back story straight from the Soho House website itself. The bar managers from the clubs across the world gathered in London for a few weeks with the intention of streamlining their cocktail menu so that you could go to any Soho House in the world and order the same drink. The Picante de la Casa is based off another of their cocktails, the Margarita Picante (a popular drink from the Miami location). This drink contained a mystery mixture of cucumber juice, hot sauce and tequila but was deemed too complex to be made quickly and at scale. In steps Odeja who simplifies the cocktail into what is essentially a fancy spicy marg.

This is supposedly the most ordered cocktail by far at Soho House bars. It’s light and refreshing and perfectly encapsulates summer in an icy cool drink. It’s very easy to make at home, I think you will love this one, even if you’re on the fence about tequila. Give it a go!
