    Salted Sage Lemonade

A tall glass filled with salted sage lemonade

No need for alcohol with this salted sage lemonade – citrusy, herbal and refreshing.

Last year I bought a fantastic drinks book outlining sophisticated non-alcholic recipes for people who aren’t drinking for whatever reason. The recipes in this book are that of mixed drink alchemy – the components require a bit of work, but the result is something modern and unique, very far from the juice and fizzy drink mocktails you see on typical bar menus. And so starts my interest in coming up with a non-alcoholic drinks that are just as enjoyable to drink as cocktails.

Recently, I came across this salted meyer lemon and sage pressé recipe on the Bon Appetit website. The intention behind my research was to find a drink without the booze that wasn’t very fruit-forward and didn’t need complicated ingredients. This is my take on that drink. Lightly salty, heavy on the tang and with a gentle note of the earthy pepper of sage, this one will have you back for seconds and thirds.

A glass of lemonade with lemon and sage

The salted sage lemonade is one for the table next time you have friends around. The recipe below outlines measurements for a single serve, this would be perfect in a large jug in the centre of your table.

Watch the video here. If you make this one, don’t forget to tag me on Instagram or TikTok. Nothing makes me happier than seeing you recreate these recipes!
