Replicate this fast food favourite: classic beef hamburgers with homemade sauce.
Burgers always seem like a lot of effort, but realistically, you could have these on your table within 15 minutes. That falls into the category of fast food, surely! I love to make burgers for an easy weekend dinner or when we have people over to watch the football. Whenever you want something delicious and satisfying, but don't want to spend half the evening in the kitchen watching the oven or the stove. Hamburgers can also be adapted to suit everyone's taste preferences too, so that's a win-win in my books!
In the past I've added everything but the kitchen sink to my burger patty mix. Diced onions, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, an egg, different herbs and spices... and look, there's nothing wrong with that at all. It always makes for a good patty. But lately I've found that keeping it really basic works best! All your fancy ingredients can be added as burger fillings, it's not necessary to whack them into the patty! After this revelation, I seriously cut down prep time and had burgers on the table in a flash.
These patties are freezable as well - season them and form them into patty shapes then layer them in an airtight container with sheets of greaseproof paper in between so they don't stick together. If you're feeling burgers for dinner, bring out your desired number of patties from the freezer and into the fridge before you go to work, and they're ready to whack straight on to the grill when you get home for the day.
Hope you enjoy!
