I’ve been inactive on my poor Eatnik for a while; I’m sorry! University has wrapped me up in it’s slimy tentacles as I slowly approach the pointy end of the semester. To be honest with you, I’ve been eating the worst, most cliché ‘poor student’ meals lately; mostly tinned soup, toast with peanut butter, tuna…anything that comes in a can that takes me under 5 minutes to prepare. But I’m coming back! I promise! I’m developing new meal ideas to post and improving my photography skills (plus working on a way to score a better camera than just my trusty ol’ iphone) with the hope of getting a recipe or two on to reputable websites such as foodgawker and tastespotting.
Anyway, in the mean time, I thought I’d do a bit of a mini review on a favourite cafe of mine, Vue Lounge in New Farm.
I can’t even remember the first time I discovered Vue Lounge. I know it involved coffee, eggs benedict and my ex-boyfriend….I don’t know. Since then though, it’s probably one of my favourite venues to go to, especially for breakfast and I think I’ve taken almost all of my friends there for a meal.
Located in New Farm – the trendy down town area of Fortitude Valley, Vue represents everything I love in a cafe: friendly staff, captivating decor and of course, delicious food. It’s no secret that breakfast is my favourite meal of the day; if I could incorporate eggs and muesli and coffee and roasted mushrooms into every meal, I probably would. I’m a sucker for soft poached eggs, and I’m pretty certain Vue began my unhealthy obsession with hollandaise sauce. The eggs benedict with smoked salmon is by far my most loved breakfast option and Vue never fail to deliver. Recently, I was encouraged to try their creamy roast mushrooms with an earl grey infused sauce. Now, this breakfast doesn’t involve eggs. While usually that’s the make or break part of breakfast for me, the waitress insisted it was delicious, so I parted with my beloved eggs for one breakfast sitting.
Wow. That’s really the only way I could sum it up. Highly highly recommend this meal, it will cement your opinion of Vue like it did mine (hopefully positively!)
Brisbane is so up and coming these days in terms of food and drink, but Vue Lounge never fails to impress me, or my guests for that matter. With a large selection of food for any time of the day, as well as a beverage list to cater for all, these aspects combined with the relaxed atmosphere keeps drawing people back.0
